If you have received a CD of Amadeus 5 without dongle, please read this article: How to install Amadeus5 with a Virtual dongle
The Virtual Dongle will be officially introduced on the next release (version 2.3.xx) planned to later this year. We intend to supply all new orders of AM5 only with Virtual Dongle. Physical USB dongles may still be ordered. In case you want us to supply a USB dongle for a specific order, kindly mark it clearly on the order form. Updating existing USB dongles will continue as usual.
In order for us to supply a license we must know the Unique PC ID of the target end user machine, in addition to the required configuration (total no. of cardholders/workstations, alarm & graphic modules, etc.). The Unique PC ID is with our UpdatePlug utility located on the application folder.
Running the UpdatePlug.exe file, selecting 'Software Dongle' and clicking on 'Get Unique PC ID' wouldgive the following:
The end user should copy the Unique PC ID and send it to you by email. Once we get we prepare the 2 license files based on the ordered configuration. These files are: Data.plg and Signature.plg
We send the files to you (or directly to the end user if you tell us so) . Once they are received and copied into the application folder the license is ready and AM5 can run. (Technical note: It is required to set Software Dongle = 1 in INI file).
There may be different scenarios when ordering Virtual Dongle:
1. New installations
The distributor should get the Unique PC ID from the end user.
Then, he will be able to fill out the form "NewDongleForm.doc" (available here) and send it to us, if possible, along with the order.
This way we can supply the license files immediately by email.
The end user can then install Amadeus5 (from the CD or by downloading the setup from the Internet), take the license file and start working.
The complete process is described in this article: How to install Amadeus5 with a Virtual dongle
2. Replace an existing USB dongle with a new Virtual Dongle
The customer would first need to update AM5 to the version 2.3.0xx or later.
After that, the distributor should get the Unique PC ID from the end user.
Then, he will be able to fill out the form "ReplaceDongleForm.doc" (available here) and send it to us, if possible, along with the order.
There will be no charge for the new license except for a small service fee.
We expect the distributor to ask the end user to send him the USB dongle and the distributor should transfer it to us in order to avoid full charge of a new license.
The Virtual Dongle will be given of course when the customer still has the USB dongle and then we expect to receive it within 30 days of supplying Virtual Dongle files.
In case we do not receive it - the distributor will be fully charged for a new license.
3. Replace an existing Virtual dongle with a new Virtual Dongle
The distributor should get the new Unique PC ID from the end user.
Then, he will be able to fill out the form "ReplaceDongleForm.doc" (available here) with the old and the new PC ID, and send it to us, if possible, along with the order.
There will be no charge for the new license except for a small service fee.
Notes:
1. The Virtual Dongle is already available from AM5 version 2.2.013 so that customers that need it now can already ask for it.
It is needed for instance to overcome a known problem: when running AM5 via Window Remote Desktop (RDP) the application runs as 'Demo' because RDP blocks AM5 from using the dongle.
2. When ordering anything relating a dongle, virtual or USB, new or update, it is required to attach the relevant form to your order. It will be one of these three:
New: NewDongleForm.doc
Replacing: ReplaceDongleForm.doc
Update: UpdateDongleForm.doc
